On this page
SCUM keeps who may do what in a set of plain text files, one SteamID64 per line, all in SCUM/Saved/Config/WindowsServer. You edit them in the panel's file manager and restart the server for the change to take effect.
The files#
| File | What a SteamID in it gets |
|---|---|
AdminUsers.ini | Admin commands in game |
ServerSettingsAdminUsers.ini | The in-game Server Settings menu |
WhitelistedUsers.ini | A priority slot: they get in even when the server is full |
ExclusiveUsers.ini | Entry to a whitelist-only server; anyone not listed is refused once the file holds one ID |
BannedUsers.ini | A ban. Players you ban in game are added here, and you can add IDs yourself |
SilencedUsers.ini | Players who are muted, and for how long. SCUM writes it |
Make yourself an admin#
- Find your SteamID64, the 17-digit number starting with
7656. It is in your Steam profile's address when the profile has no custom URL. - In the file manager, open
SCUM/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/AdminUsers.ini. - Add your ID on a line of its own and save.
- Restart the server from the panel.
Extra permissions go in brackets after the ID:
76561198000000000
76561198000000001[SetGodMode]
The first line is an admin with the standard commands. The second can also use #SetGodMode True and #SetGodMode False, which turn instant building on and off.
To change the server's settings from inside the game as well, add the same ID to ServerSettingsAdminUsers.ini.
Restarting and stopping#
Restart and stop the server from the panel. A stop saves the world first, so nothing is lost, and the panel brings the server back on a restart. That is also what to use instead of SCUM's in-game shutdown command, which stops the server without the panel knowing why.
Whitelists#
- Priority for regulars: add their IDs to
WhitelistedUsers.ini. When the server is full, a listed player still gets in, and SCUM moves someone else out. - A private server: add every allowed player to
ExclusiveUsers.ini. The file has no effect while it is empty; from the first ID on, only listed players can join. A join password, set on the panel's Startup page, is the lighter alternative.
Where to look when something goes wrong#
The server's own log is SCUM/Saved/Logs/SCUM.log, the same lines the panel's console shows. SCUM's gameplay logs, including admin commands, chat, kills, logins and the economy, are in SCUM/Saved/SaveFiles/Logs. When an admin command does nothing, check that the ID in AdminUsers.ini is the 17-digit SteamID64 and that the server has been restarted since you added it.
