How do players join my server?

Each player needs RimWorld with the RimWorld Together mod from the Steam Workshop, and Harmony, which the mod requires. In the mod's menu they can use Direct Connect with the IP and port shown in the panel, enter your server's join code, or pick it from the in-game server browser, where it is listed unless you turn off List in Server Browser.

Do players need the same version of the mod as the server?

Yes, exactly the same. The Steam Workshop updates the mod for players automatically, so by default the server installs the latest release each time it starts. When a new version of the mod comes out, restart the server and it catches up. If you pin a version in the Server Version setting, your players need that version too.

Can I stay on RimWorld 1.6?

Yes. RimWorld Together 26.10.15.1 is the last release for RimWorld 1.6, Odyssey included, and later releases target RimWorld 1.7. To stay on 1.6, set Server Version to 26.10.15.1 in the panel.

How do mods work on a RimWorld Together server?

The first player to join uploads the world and their mod list, and becomes the server's admin. From then on the server holds every player to the Required and Optional mods in Configs/ModConfig.json, unless you set AllowAllMods there. Nothing is installed on the server itself: mods run in each player's game.

How do I manage players?

From the panel's console you can op and deop players, kick and ban them, broadcast a message, list who is online and take a backup. setpassword changes the server password and togglebrowser shows or hides the server in the in-game browser.

Are colonies backed up?

Yes. The server makes its own backup every hour and keeps the last six in Backups/. The world and every player's save are in Assets/, and settings are in Configs/, starting with ServerConfig.json. You can download any of them from the file manager.

How much memory does a RimWorld Together server need?

Very little. The server uses about 33 MB of memory with nobody on, so the Colony preset's 1 GB is plenty for a small group. Disk is what grows, with every player's save and the hourly backups, so a server with many colonies wants the larger presets' storage.
