How do players join my ARK server?

Search for your server's name in ARK's server browser, under Unofficial. Or add it on Steam under View, Game Servers, Favourites, with your server's IP and the Steam Query Port shown on the panel's Startup page, then join from there.

How do I become an admin?

Accepted Answer

Open the in-game console and type enablecheats followed by your Admin Password, which is on the panel's Startup page. To skip the password, add your SteamID64 to ShooterGame/Saved/AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt, one per line, and restart.

Where do I change taming and harvest rates?

Accepted Answer

In ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer: GameUserSettings.ini for most rates and rules, Game.ini for per-level and per-dino settings. Stop the server before editing, since ARK rewrites GameUserSettings.ini when it shuts down. Name, map, passwords, PvE and player limit are set on the panel and win over the same keys in the file.

How do I add mods?

Put the mods' Steam Workshop ids in the Mods setting on the panel's Startup page, separated by commas, in the order they should load, and restart. The server downloads them on start and updates them on every restart after.

Is my world saved when the server stops?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Stopping or restarting from the panel saves the world before the server shuts down, as ARK's own autosave does every 15 minutes. Worlds are in ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks, one per map, which backups include and which you can download.

How much memory does an ARK server need?

It depends on the map. With nobody on, The Island uses about 6 GB and Genesis Part 2 about 12.6 GB, and every player, structure and tame adds more as the world grows. The Tribe preset's 8 GB suits the original maps and a small group, Crystal Isles and Lost Island are happier with 12 GB, and Genesis Part 2 needs the Mega Tribe's 16 GB.

This is the dedicated server for ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam. Xbox and PlayStation players cannot join PC servers. For ARK: Survival Ascended, the newer remake, you need a different server.
